Federal government says Secondary schools can reopen on the 4th of August 2020


Nigeria government said secondary schools can reopen as from 4th of August, 2020.
But only applied to those for examination classes.

Students will be given two weeks to prepare for the West African Examinations (WAEC) due to start on the 17th of August, 2020. The Federal Ministry of Education, Honourable Commissioners of Education of the 36 states, the Nigerian Union of Teachers, (NUT), the proprietors of private schools, and Chief Executives of examination bodies agreed on dis decisions today, 27 July after they did virtual meeting.



They agreed to make examination classes resume immediately after the Sallah break which will take place on Friday, so they could prepare for the WAEC examinations which will commence from 17 August. They all appealed to the Federal Government saying they should assist schoool in the country, make the schools reopening can be fast and safe.

The Federal Ministry of Education will still conduct another meeting on Tuesday 28 July but this time they will meet the of Chief Executives of examination bodies like NECO, NABTEB and NBAIS. They want them to harmonize their examination dates which the government will announce to stakeholders.
